This month's quality is Patience.
Have you ever had one of those days when you didn’t feel like doing anything? Like nothing seemed fun, and everything felt heavy or hard? Well that’s a great day to practice some patience. Patience with yourself. Patience with others. And mostly, patience with God and the Universe. Not everything happens in ‘our’ time. I am reminded of a great quote by Phyllis Diller (comedian/actress in the 1960’s and 1970’s), “How do you make God laugh? Tell Him YOUR plans.”
We are all powerful creators, builders, dreamers, and manifesters. It’s our purpose to learn, grow, and utilize this world we live in as a ‘life-school.’ And sometimes, the energies around us get a little swirly, heavy, and complicated, making life harder because we had plans! Being patient, letting go and surrendering to what is, can be the most frustrating but powerful skill we can learn in life.
When your neighbor doesn’t do something you ask, be patient. Perhaps they are having a bad day, or simply forgot?
When your child takes much longer than planned to get ready for school or a trip, be patient. Sometimes they need a little ‘grace’ to learn how to be more organized, and you can show them how.
When your spouse or beloved is unable to tell ‘the story right’ at a dinner table or party, have patience. Sometimes their version is even more funny or delightful that the one you would tell, and if you listen with a curious heart, you might even get something out of it.
Patience leads us to the things we NEED to do, be, or learn from. So why not practice patience as your little bit of kindness today, and see what God/Universe have in store for you!
